Who can take part
- You must be 65 years or older.
- You must be scheduled for a TAVI (a heart valve replacement) while under sedation.
- You cannot have a history of needing a breathing tube for a long time.
- You cannot have a history of a tracheostomy (a breathing tube placed in your throat).
- You cannot be planned to have a breathing tube placed during the procedure.
- You cannot be getting TAVI under local anesthesia only (you must be sedated).
