Who can take part

  • Age 18 or older
  • Severe aortic valve stenosis (narrowing) causing symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Your doctor has recommended transcatheter aortic valve implantation (a minimally invasive valve replacement)
  • Ability to have transcranial Doppler ultrasound (a safe ultrasound of blood flow in your brain)
  • No recent stroke or mini-stroke in the past few months
  • No active heart infection
