Who can take part

  • You have high nearsightedness (more than -6 diopters) or your eye is very long (over 26 mm).
  • You have changes in the back of the eye typical of severe nearsightedness (pathologic myopia).
  • You have been diagnosed with a new type of abnormal blood vessel in your central vision area that hasn't been treated yet.
  • The abnormal blood vessel is in or very near the center of your vision, not off to the side.
  • You don't have other eye diseases or inflammation that could cause similar blood vessel growth.
  • You haven't had eye surgery before (except for cataract removal done before the study started), and your eye scans are clear enough to read.
