Exercise therapy for weakness after sepsis in the ICU

Who can take part

  • You were diagnosed with sepsis when you entered the ICU
  • You are on a breathing machine and expected to need it for at least 7 days
  • Your organ failure score (SOFA) was high (8 or more) for three days in a row during your first 5 days in the ICU
  • You do not have long-term muscle or nerve disease, severe liver disease, or need dialysis
  • You are not pregnant and your body mass index is less than 35
