Nasal biopsy study for Alzheimer's and smell disorders

Who can take part

  • You can be between 18 and 80 years old for the Alzheimer's group, or 18 or older for the smell disorder group.
  • You have either early Alzheimer's (with normal thinking but positive biomarker tests) or a confirmed Alzheimer's or dementia diagnosis, OR you have a smell disorder or are already having nasal surgery.
  • You cannot be allergic to Afrin or tetracaine (numbing sprays used in the procedure).
  • You do not have Parkinson's disease or active sinus or nasal problems that would make the biopsy unsafe.
  • You can have a tiny camera look inside your nose and understand the consent form.
