Who can take part

  • You have probable or definite ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
  • Your first ALS symptoms started within the last 2 years.
  • Your ALS Functional Rating Scale (ALSFRS-R) score is 35 or higher.
  • Your slow vital capacity (a breathing test) is at least 60% of predicted.
  • You can swallow capsules.
  • You are either not taking certain ALS medicines like riluzole, sodium phenylbutyrate/taurursodiol (Relyvrio), tofersen, or edaravone, or you have been on a stable dose for at least 4 weeks.
