Oxygen test to detect early breathing machine failure in COPD

COPDNon Invasive Ventilation (NIV)VOX Index

Part of Lungs & breathing clinical trials.

This trial looks at whether a simple breathing measurement (oxygenation index) can predict when non-invasive ventilation (a breathing mask that helps you breathe) may not be working well in people with COPD. It could help doctors decide sooner if a different treatment is needed.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
  • You are admitted to the respiratory intensive care unit (ICU) and are using non-invasive ventilation (a breathing mask).
  • You do not need immediate placement of a breathing tube (intubation).

NCT07198880Not yet recruiting
Home breathing machine for severe COPD patients

This trial tests whether using a non-invasive ventilator (a breathing machine with a mask) at home can help people with severe COPD who have high carbon dioxide levels in their blood. It aims to improve breathing and reduce the need for hospital visits.

NCT07081776Not yet recruiting
New mask for COPD flare-ups needing breathing help

This trial tests a new type of face mask designed to help remove carbon dioxide from your blood when you have a severe COPD flare-up and need a breathing machine. The goal is to see if the mask works better than standard masks for people like you.

Predicting response to breathing support in COPD

This study looks at whether nighttime breathing problems can predict long-term success with a non-invasive breathing machine in people with COPD who have high carbon dioxide levels in their blood. The goal is to help doctors decide who will benefit most from this therapy.

Non-invasive oxygen monitoring for patients on ventilators

This trial tests a non-invasive method to measure oxygen levels in your blood using your breath, avoiding the need for a tube in your heart. It's for adults who are on a breathing machine and whose doctors recommend a pulmonary artery catheter for monitoring.

NCT07750717Not yet recruiting
Bedside breathing test for lung injury

This trial is testing a simple breathing test at the bedside to help doctors understand lung damage in patients who are in intensive care with severe breathing problems. It might help guide treatment for patients with acute lung injury.

Test air-biomarker changes during ICU breathing machine use

This study looks for chemical “biomarkers” in samples taken during ICU care to better understand what happens during mechanical ventilation. It may help future care by identifying signs that could guide safer breathing-machine treatment.
