Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 45 years old.
  • You have a jaw joint problem called disc displacement on one side only, with symptoms like pain, clicking, or trouble opening your mouth wide (less than 40 mm).
  • You have not had any prior surgery or injections for your jaw joint.
  • You are generally healthy (no serious illnesses like diabetes, autoimmune disorders, or blood clotting problems).
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you are not on blood thinners or anti-inflammatory medications.

Jaw Surgery With and Without Hyaluronic Acid Injection

This trial tests a minimally invasive jaw surgery (arthroscopy) to treat a specific jaw disc problem that hasn't improved with conservative treatments like physical therapy or mouth guards. Half of patients will also receive a hyaluronic acid injection, which may reduce inflammation and improve jaw function.
