  • Adults aged 18 or older
  • Currently on a breathing machine (ventilator) through a tube in your windpipe or a tracheostomy
  • Expected to need the breathing machine for at least 3 days
  • Expected to survive your hospital stay and be in the intensive care unit (ICU) for more than 7 days
