This study is building a model to better predict how metabolic liver disease (MASLD) that has led to cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) will progress. If you have compensated cirrhosis (your liver is still working well) and have been diagnosed with MASLD or a related condition, this research could help develop more personalized care.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with cirrhosis caused by fat buildup in the liver (MASLD). This diagnosis can be based on a liver biopsy or non-invasive tests like FibroScan or MRI.
  • Your cirrhosis is compensated, meaning your liver is still functioning well and you have not had serious complications like fluid in the belly, bleeding from veins, or mental confusion.
  • You have two or more metabolic risk factors, such as being overweight, having prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes.
  • You do not have other causes of liver disease like hepatitis C, heavy alcohol use, or autoimmune hepatitis.
  • You have not had heavy drinking (more than 1 drink per day for women or 2 drinks per day for men) in the past 5 years.
