Sleep apnea treatment for AFib: a personalized trial

AfibSleep Apnea Syndrome, ObstructiveCPAP

Part of Brain & nervous system, Heart & circulation, Lungs & breathing clinical trials.

This study tests whether treating sleep apnea with a CPAP machine can reduce the number of AFib episodes you have. It's a personalized 'N-of-1' trial, meaning you'll try both CPAP and no CPAP at different times to see what works best for you.

  • You have atrial fibrillation (AFib) episodes that happen at least 1% of the time.
  • You have been diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea (AHI score of 15 or more).
  • You have a heart device (like a pacemaker or defibrillator) that monitors your heart and is set up for remote check-ins.
  • You have not had AFib ablation in the last 6 months, and you're not planning to have one during the study.
  • You don't have central sleep apnea (a different type where your brain doesn't signal you to breathe).

NCT07444372Recruiting
CPAP for Sleep Apnea After Atrial Fibrillation Ablation

This trial tests whether starting CPAP therapy (a breathing mask used during sleep) after a heart procedure called atrial fibrillation ablation can help people with both sleep apnea and atrial fibrillation. It might lower the chance of the heart rhythm problem coming back.

NCT06263608Recruiting
Sleep apnea testing and treatment for atrial fibrillation patients

This study tests a new way to check and treat sleep apnea in people with atrial fibrillation (AF). If you have AF and symptoms, you may be able to join and get sleep tracking and treatment that could help both your heart and sleep.

NCT04005508Recruiting
Study sleep apnea and heart outcomes in high-risk atrial fibrillation

This trial looks at how obstructive sleep apnea (OSA, a breathing problem during sleep) relates to heart outcomes in people with atrial fibrillation (AF). It may help doctors better predict risk and choose safer care for people who are high cardiovascular risk.

Singapore
NCT06542263Recruiting
CPAP for preventing AF recurrence after ablation in people with AF and sleep apnea

This study tests whether using a CPAP machine at night can help prevent atrial fibrillation from coming back after a heart procedure called catheter ablation. It is for people who have both AF and moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea.

NCT06618417Recruiting
Home sleep test for sleep apnea in atrial fibrillation

This study is using a smartphone app and a home sleep test to see if checking for sleep apnea helps people with atrial fibrillation feel better and have fewer heart rhythm episodes. The goal is to make monitoring easier for you at home.
