Measuring lung overstretch in prone-position ARDS patients

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are in the intensive care unit (ICU) for moderate to severe breathing failure (ARDS)
  • You have a certain stage of COPD (stage 3 or 4) and need a breathing machine or mask for help
  • You do not have a leak between your lung and chest wall (bronchopleural leak)
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You do not have a pacemaker or similar implant that could interfere with the belt
  • You can safely have the EIT belt placed on your chest
