Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and agree to take part.
  • You can be enrolled in the study within 24 hours of being admitted to the hospital.
  • Your main reason for being in the hospital is heart failure with noticeable swelling in your legs.
  • Blood test shows a high level of a heart strain marker (NT-proBNP > 1500 pg/mL).
  • Doctors think you will need water pills (diuretics) for at least 2 days.
