Who can take part
- You have a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (mild stage, CDR 0.5 or 1) or frontotemporal dementia, or you are a healthy volunteer with normal memory and thinking.
- For Alzheimer's: you have memory problems that have gotten worse over time, and you have had a spinal tap showing Alzheimer's-related changes.
- For frontotemporal dementia: you have changes in personality, behavior, or language (like trouble speaking or understanding words), and brain imaging supports the diagnosis.
- You do not have any metal implants or devices that would make an MRI unsafe (like a pacemaker or cochlear implant).
- You do not have a severe, uncontrolled psychiatric condition or a history of serious alcohol or drug abuse within the last 5 years.
- You are able to lie still in an MRI scanner (no severe claustrophobia or agitation).
