Who can take part
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You are currently in the hospital because of a heart attack (STEMI or NSTEMI).
- You have had a procedure to open blocked arteries (angioplasty or stent) or are being treated with medicines only.
- Your LDL cholesterol is above a certain level (depends on current cholesterol medication use).
- You must be able to start the study medicine within 7 days of being admitted to the hospital.
- You must not have severe heart failure, unstable rhythm, very high blood pressure, liver or kidney problems, or other serious medical conditions.
- You must not have had or be planning heart bypass surgery.
- You must not be taking other medications that affect cholesterol in a way that might interfere with this study.
