Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, with a thickened heart wall (≥15 mm on an echo or MRI, or ≥13 mm with a known genetic cause).
  • You have symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or fainting, and are in NYHA class II or III (meaning symptoms with moderate activity).
  • You have a pressure gradient over 30 mmHg in the mid-ventricle or apex of the heart at rest or when bearing down (Valsalva).
  • You do not have obstruction in the usual outflow tract (gradient must be under 30 mmHg at rest and with Valsalva in that area).
  • Your heart pumping strength is normal (LVEF at least 50%).
  • You do not have other serious heart problems, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or conditions like Fabry disease or amyloidosis.
