Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You had a recent stroke or high-risk TIA (mini-stroke) that affected the carotid artery area, within the last 21 days.
  • You have at least 30% narrowing (stenosis) in your carotid artery.
  • You have a CT scan of your arteries available as part of your regular care.
  • You can have an MRI without problems (no pacemaker, certain metal implants, or severe claustrophobia).
  • Your stroke was not caused by a blood clot from the heart, a small vessel blockage, or another known cause (like an artery tear).
