Hybrid closed-loop insulin for blood sugar control during surgery

Type 2 Diabetes

Part of Hormones & metabolism clinical trials.

This trial tests a smart insulin pump system (hybrid closed-loop) to control blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes who need surgery and will receive nutrition through a vein. It aims to prevent high and low blood sugar during and after surgery.

  • You have type 2 diabetes and are scheduled for a surgery lasting at least 2 hours, with a hospital stay of more than 3 days.
  • Your blood sugar is not well controlled (A1c 7.5% or higher, or random blood sugar 13.9 mmol/L or higher, or you use insulin with A1c 7.0% or higher).
  • You do not have severe organ problems (like heart failure, liver or kidney issues, or low blood counts).

Insulin Pump vs. Full Closed-Loop for Type 2 Diabetes

This trial compares your current insulin pump therapy with a fully automated closed-loop system (artificial pancreas) that adjusts insulin using a smartphone algorithm. It aims to see which method works better for managing blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.

Testing a glucose control system in simulated ICU conditions

This study tests a closed-loop glucose monitoring and insulin delivery system (like an artificial pancreas) in a controlled hospital-like setting. Researchers will monitor how well it manages blood sugar in people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who use insulin.

Smart insulin pump for blood sugar control after brain surgery

This trial tests a smart insulin pump (hybrid closed-loop system) to control high blood sugar after brain surgery for bleeding strokes. It's for people with type 2 diabetes who are stable enough to leave the intensive care unit and are getting tube feedings.

Closed-loop insulin pump study after pancreas removal surgery

This study tests a hybrid closed-loop insulin delivery system (MiniMed 780G with Simplera sensor) in people who have had their pancreas removed. The system automatically adjusts insulin based on glucose levels, which may make diabetes management easier and safer.

Closed-loop system for adults with type 2 diabetes

This trial tests a 'closed-loop' system that automatically adjusts insulin delivery for people with type 2 diabetes. If you already use insulin and certain diabetes medications, this study could help see if a smart insulin pump improves blood sugar control.

Hybrid Closed-Loop for Diabetes After Kidney Transplant

This trial tests a hybrid closed-loop system (an advanced insulin pump that automatically adjusts insulin) for people with diabetes who have had a kidney transplant. It may help improve blood sugar control and reduce the burden of managing diabetes after transplant.
