Who can take part

  • You must be over 18 years old.
  • You must be in the intensive care unit for septic shock.
  • You must be willing and able to sign a consent form.
  • You cannot have severe obesity that prevents a clear ultrasound.
  • You cannot have chronic heart failure or advanced heart valve problems.
  • You cannot have chronic kidney disease requiring dialysis or have just started dialysis for kidney failure.
  • You cannot have advanced liver disease or blood clots in certain veins.
