Who can take part
- You are between 55 and 75 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), but not certain rare subtypes like promyelocytic leukemia or leukemia with specific gene changes (PML-RARA, RUNX1-RUNX1T1, CBFB-MYH11, or BCR-ABL).
- You are generally active enough to take care of yourself (ECOG score 0-2).
- Your heart, liver, and kidney functions are within safe limits as judged by routine blood tests and an echocardiogram.
- You have not had prior chemotherapy for AML (except hydroxyurea).
