Who can take part

  • You are 45 or older and your body mass index (BMI) is 32 or less.
  • Your heart attack was diagnosed between 36 hours and 7 days ago.
  • Your heart's pumping strength is 45% or less (measured by LVEF), and you don't need medicine to keep your blood pressure up.
  • Your cardiologist has decided that stents or bypass surgery are not right for you.
  • You agree to use effective birth control during the study and for 6 months after, if you could become pregnant.
