This study tests if resmetirom can help people who have both HIV and a liver condition called MASLD (fat buildup in the liver not caused by alcohol). You may qualify if your liver has a certain amount of fat and stiffness, and your HIV is well controlled with stable medication.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and have HIV.
  • You have been diagnosed with MASLD (fatty liver disease) through an imaging test or liver biopsy in the last 12 months.
  • A special MRI shows your liver fat is at least 8%.
  • A liver stiffness test (VCTE) shows a score of 8 kPa or higher and a CAP score of 263 dB/m or higher.
  • Your HIV is well controlled (viral load under 200 copies/mL) for at least 6 months, and you're on a stable HIV medication plan for at least 3 months.
