Geographic Atrophy Secondary to Age-related Macular Degeneration

This study observes how geographic atrophy (an advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration) changes over a short period. If you have this condition in both eyes and meet certain vision and eye health criteria, you may be able to join this non-treatment study to help researchers learn more about the disease.

Who can take part

  • You are 55 years or older.
  • You have geographic atrophy (dry AMD) in both eyes, confirmed by imaging.
  • At least one eye has a GA lesion area between 1.25 mm² and 17.5 mm².
  • Your best corrected vision is 20/400 or better in both eyes, and you can see at least 20 letters on an eye chart with your better eye.
  • You have not had any previous treatment for AMD (except vitamin supplements) or eye surgery (except cataract surgery more than 6 months ago).
  • You have no history of wet AMD, diabetic eye disease, high myopia or hyperopia, glaucoma, or other serious eye conditions.
