Testing pathogen-reduced red blood cells in people with or without antibodies

Transfusion Reaction, Hemolytic

This study checks if a special treatment to reduce germs in red blood cells is safe for patients who may have developed antibodies from past transfusions. You will receive a small transfusion of these treated cells to see how your body reacts.

Who can take part

  • You are at least 4 years old.
  • You have had a blood transfusion before.
  • It has been more than 120 days since your last transfusion with study red blood cells.
  • You do not have any medical condition that makes a transfusion risky, like active bleeding or a weak immune system.
  • You are not taking certain medications that affect red blood cell health.
