Who can take part
- You are 18 or older
- You have cirrhosis that is stable (no fluid in the belly or past bleeding)
- You have been diagnosed with varices in your stomach (from CT, MRI, or endoscopy)
- You have not had liver cancer or any other cancer
- Your liver function score (MELD) is less than 20
- You are already taking a medicine called a nonselective beta blocker (NSBB) to lower pressure in the varices
