Who can take part

  • You had a cardiac arrest outside the hospital
  • Your heart rhythm was ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation when first checked
  • You received at least one standard shock (pads on chest and back)
  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are not pregnant
  • You do not have a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order in place

You might be eligible if you had a witnessed arrest, got bystander CPR, and your first rhythm was shockable, as long as the emergency team can reach the hospital in 30 minutes.
