Who can take part

  • You are not a smoker.
  • You have been diagnosed with either muscle tension dysphonia (a voice problem from too much muscle strain) or benign (non-cancerous) vocal cord lesions.
  • You have not had voice therapy or surgery on your voice in the past year.
  • You do not have any other serious long-term health condition that affects your voice, and your hearing is normal.
  • You are willing to attend all study sessions and use a smartphone to record your voice practice at home.
  • Your voice can be improved with behavioral treatment, and a voice specialist will confirm this.
