  • You are having a severe heart attack that causes cardiogenic shock (your heart can't pump enough blood).
  • You need a heart-lung machine (VA-ECMO) to support your heart and a breathing tube.
  • The heart attack is in the front wall of your heart (anterior wall myocardial infarction).
  • You are 18 years or older.
