Who can take part

  • You have chronic pancreatitis that causes pain and you are scheduled for shock wave therapy (ESWL) to break up stones in your pancreas.
  • You are between 18 and 85 years old.
  • You have not taken NSAID pain relievers (like ibuprofen, naproxen, or indomethacin) in the last week.
  • You do not have serious heart problems (like heart failure, low blood pressure, or abnormal heart function) or lung problems that require oxygen.
  • You have good kidney function (no kidney disease or recent dialysis) and no active stomach bleeding, allergies, or blood clotting issues.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or have had surgery removing your rectum.
