Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You had a sudden brain bleed in the upper part of your brain (not the brainstem or cerebellum) confirmed by a CT scan within 24 hours of when symptoms started or when you were last seen normal.
  • The bleed is between about 1.5 and 3.5 tablespoons in size (25 to 60 mL).
  • You have some weakness, numbness, or trouble speaking (NIHSS score of 6 or more) but are not in a coma (GCS score between 9 and 14).
  • You were able to do your usual daily activities before the stroke (mRS score 0 or 1).
  • You are not pregnant, have no bleeding disorders, and have not taken blood thinners like warfarin in the past week.
