Who can take part

  • You must be scheduled for lung surgery at this hospital (for any reason).
  • You have been diagnosed with COPD according to the 2024 GOLD guidelines.
  • You are willing to let us use a sample of your lung tissue that would be removed anyway during surgery, or you already have such a sample stored.
  • You do NOT have advanced lung cancer.
  • You do NOT have asthma that caused a flare-up in the last year.
  • You are NOT taking strong immune-suppressing medicines (such as anti-rejection drugs).
