Testing a spinal cord stimulator for diabetic nerve pain in the legs

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain (DPN)

This trial is studying a device called the Medtronic Inceptiv™ Closed-Loop DTM Spinal Cord Stimulator to see if it can help reduce pain from diabetic peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage caused by diabetes) in the lower legs. It is for people whose pain has lasted at least 6 months and hasn't been helped by other treatments.

Who can take part

  • You must be 19 years or older.
  • You must have diabetes with nerve damage in your legs, confirmed by a nerve test (EMG).
  • You must have had moderate to severe leg pain (at least 6 out of 10 on a pain scale) for 6 months or longer, despite trying pain medications.
  • Your average blood sugar level (HbA1c) must be 8.5% or lower within the last 3 months.
  • You cannot have had a spinal cord stimulator or similar nerve device before.
  • You must be able to get insurance approval or pay for the device, and be willing to follow the study rules.
