How glucagon affects blood sugar after weight loss surgery

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 to 65 years old.
  • You have had either gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy surgery more than a year ago, or you have never had any gastrointestinal surgery.
  • Your HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar over time) must be 6% or lower.
  • You cannot have diabetes, active heart, lung, liver, kidney, or digestive tract disease.
  • Females who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test and use highly effective birth control; no nursing or pregnancy allowed.
  • You must not have a history of alcohol abuse, current substance dependence, or be on a ketogenic diet.
