Who can take part

  • Weigh enough that your BMI (body mass index) is over 40
  • Be over 18 years old
  • Need medicine to prevent blood clots (your doctor prescribes it)
  • Not already on full-dose blood thinners
  • Have kidney function above a certain level (creatinine clearance at least 30 mL/min)
  • Not pregnant, no active bleeding, and no recent major bleeding or surgery
