HOPE Biobank for bone marrow failure patients

This study collects blood samples from patients with aplastic anemia, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, or other bone marrow failure conditions who are receiving a stem cell transplant or gene therapy. The samples will be stored and used for future research to better understand and treat these diseases.

Who can take part

  • You have aplastic anemia, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, or another type of bone marrow failure that is not cancer.
  • You are going to have a stem cell transplant or gene therapy for your condition.
  • You weigh at least 22 pounds (10 kilograms) at the time you join the study.
  • You agree to let the research team link your study data with your medical records from the transplant registry.
  • If you are a related donor for an eligible patient, you can also join this study. The patient can still join even if you decide not to.
