Who can take part
- You must be 18 years of age or older.
- You need to be on a stable dose of a statin (a cholesterol-lowering medicine) before joining.
- Your 'bad' cholesterol (LDL) must be above a certain threshold based on your risk for heart problems (e.g., if you are very high risk, LDL must be at least 1.4 mmol/L).
- Your fasting triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood) must be at least 1.7 mmol/L (about 150 mg/dL).
- You cannot have poorly controlled high blood pressure, certain liver or thyroid problems, or certain kidney disease.
