Needle injection study for kids with sensitive molars

Molar Hypomineralization

This study tests a new way to give numbing medicine to children who have very sensitive back teeth due to a condition called molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH). It compares a special short needle injection into the jawbone combined with regular numbing medicine to see if it works better for treating deep cavities.

Who can take part

  • Your child is generally healthy (classified as ASA I or II).
  • Your child is cooperative and has been rated a 3 or 4 on the Frankl behavior scale.
  • Your child has at least one very sensitive, deeply decayed first permanent molar affected by MIH that needs treatment.
  • The decay reaches the inner third of the dentin and is close to the nerve, as seen on an x-ray.
  • You (the parent or guardian) agree to sign a consent form.
