Who can take part

  • You have differentiated thyroid cancer confirmed by tissue sample (biopsy).
  • You are at intermediate or high risk of the cancer coming back.
  • You are 18 years or older (and between 18 and 70 if in stage 2 of the trial).
  • Your TSH is still above the target level even though your free T4 is in the high-normal range.
  • You have not had a stomach surgery that affects absorption, and you do not have certain gut conditions.

Recombinant TSH for radioactive iodine therapy in thyroid cancer

This trial tests whether a medicine called recombinant human thyroid stimulating hormone (rhTSH) can help prepare your body for radioactive iodine (131I) treatment, which aims to destroy any remaining or spreading thyroid cancer cells. It may be a good option if your thyroid cancer has come back or spread and you are able to have radioactive iodine therapy.
