Who can take part
- You are 18 to 70 years old.
- You have had hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) for at least 6 months due to either your thyroid not working or having it surgically removed.
- You take levothyroxine (thyroid hormone pill) daily, 75 to 150 mcg, and have been on the same dose for at least 3 months.
- Your thyroid blood test (TSH) is within a normal range (0.5 to 4.0 mU/L).
- You still have bothersome hypothyroid symptoms for more than 2 months, such as fatigue, weight gain, or feeling sluggish.
- If you are able to have children, you must use effective birth control during the study and for 4 weeks after.
