  • Your child has a severe breathing problem caused by a narrowed or damaged windpipe (trachea) that standard surgery cannot fix.
  • The windpipe problem may be due to a birth defect, a narrowing from a breathing tube or disease, an injury, or a tumor.
  • Your child's breathing symptoms are severe, such as needing a breathing machine for over a month, having a blocked airway that affects daily life, or having repeated lung infections.
  • Your child does not have a cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, a severe immune problem, or a life-threatening condition like multiple organ failure.
  • A parent or guardian must be able to give permission for the trial.
