Who can take part

  • Your child has been diagnosed with esophageal atresia (a gap in the esophagus) and a distal tracheoesophageal fistula (an abnormal connection to the windpipe).
  • Your child has tracheomalacia, meaning the windpipe is soft and may collapse.
  • Your child was born at 34 weeks or later (not extremely premature).
  • Your child's breathing tube is size 3.0 or larger.
  • Your child does not have a heart defect that causes bluish skin (cyanotic heart disease).
