Who can take part

  • You have a type of throat cancer (tonsil, soft palate, throat wall, or base of tongue) that is small to medium sized (T1-T3) and has not spread to the opposite side of the neck.
  • You are getting radiation therapy to both sides of the neck, with or without chemotherapy, as your main treatment plan.
  • You are 18 years or older and feel well enough to carry out daily activities (ECOG 0-1).
  • You have had a CT or MRI of your neck, a PET-CT scan, and a chest CT within the last 8 weeks.
  • If you are getting chemotherapy, your blood counts, kidney and liver function must be adequate as checked by your doctor.
  • You agree to use effective birth control during treatment and for 90 days after radiation, if you could become pregnant or get someone pregnant.
