Who can take part

  • You had your first ever brain bleed (not from a head injury or other known cause).
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • Your stroke symptoms started at least 24 hours ago but no more than 3 months ago.
  • Your brain bleed was confirmed by a CT or MRI scan.
  • You are alive and stable 24 hours after the brain bleed.
  • You are not currently taking any blood thinners (including aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin, or similar).

This trial studies whether starting aspirin early is safe and helpful for people who, after clot-busting treatment for an ischemic stroke, develop a specific type of small brain bleeding called hemorrhagic infarction. You might benefit if your scan later shows this pattern of bleeding and you are not able to take blood-thinners or aspirin is safe for you.
