Who can take part

  • You must be between 40 and 70 years old.
  • If you have MASLD, you need advanced liver scarring (stage 2 or more) or a liver cancer diagnosis.
  • If you are in the control group, you must be a blood donor who is overweight or obese and have at least two of the following: high blood sugar/diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure.
  • You cannot have chronic viral hepatitis (Hepatitis B or C) or other liver diseases like hemochromatosis or Wilson's disease.
  • You must be enrolled in another study (SERENA or REASON) if you have MASLD.
  • You must have had a liver biopsy or gallbladder removal for the MASLD group.
