Cement vs paste nerve treatment for baby molars

This study compares two treatments for deeply decayed baby molars where the nerve is inflamed but not dead. One treatment removes only the top part of the nerve and uses a special cement (CEM), while the other removes the whole nerve and fills the canal with a paste. The goal is to see which treatment works better to save the tooth and prevent infection.

Who can take part

  • Your child must be 6 to 8 years old and in good general health.
  • The tooth must be a back baby molar (second primary molar) with deep decay that has reached the nerve, causing pain but no signs of infection like swelling or an abscess.
  • X-rays must show no signs of infection at the root tip or between the roots, and the tooth must be able to be fixed (no root cavities or abnormal root shape).
  • Your child must be able to cooperate for the dental procedure, and you must agree to come back for follow-up visits.
  • If your child has serious medical or mental health conditions, or if the tooth is already dead or infected, they cannot join the study.
