- You are 65 years old or older.
- You have COPD, confirmed by a breathing test.
- You have a smoking history of at least 10 pack-years (e.g., 1 pack a day for 10 years).
- In the last year, you had either 1 COPD flare-up that sent you to the hospital or 2 flare-ups treated outside the hospital.
- You do not have diabetes, are not taking metformin, and have no serious kidney, liver, or heart failure issues.
