Stent for carotid artery narrowing in high-risk patients

Carotid Artery Stenosis

Part of Brain & nervous system, Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This trial tests a new stent (CGuard Prime) placed through a small neck incision to treat carotid artery narrowing. It is for people who are at high risk for traditional surgery and have not had a recent stroke or other procedures.

Who can take part

  • You have significant narrowing in your carotid artery (at least 50% with symptoms or 80% without symptoms).
  • You are considered high-risk for traditional carotid surgery due to factors like age, heart or lung problems, or prior neck treatments.
  • You have not had any other heart or blood vessel procedure within 30 days before or after this stent placement.
  • You do not have an irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) that requires blood thinners.
  • You do not already have a stent in the same carotid artery.

NCT07370246Recruiting
Carotid stenting for high-risk carotid surgery patients

This trial tests whether placing a stent in the narrowed carotid artery is a good option for people who are at high risk for the standard surgery (carotid endarterectomy). If you have significant blockages in your neck arteries and certain health or anatomical factors that make surgery riskier, this study may be for you.

Stenting for narrowed carotid arteries with a special balloon guide

This trial tests if using a balloon guide catheter during carotid artery stenting is safer and more effective than standard stenting. You may qualify if you have significant narrowing in your carotid artery and are a candidate for stenting.

A study of a new carotid artery stent system for Chinese patients

This trial tests a device that helps prevent strokes by opening blocked carotid arteries in the neck. It is for people who have had a recent stroke or TIA, or who have a high-grade blockage without symptoms.

NCT07247864Recruiting
Balloon guide catheter and filter protection for carotid stenting

This trial tests using a balloon guide catheter along with a filter to prevent debris from reaching the brain during carotid artery stenting. It may help people who have severe narrowing or blockage in the carotid artery and are getting a stent.

NCT05195658Recruiting
Stent vs standard treatment for acute carotid artery stroke

This trial studies whether placing a special device (a micronet-covered stent) can improve treatment of certain acute strokes caused by blockage at the carotid artery “bifurcation” (where the artery splits). It is meant for people who need an urgent, catheter-based procedure to open the blocked vessel.

Studying a new balloon procedure for calcified carotid artery disease

This trial tests a special balloon (IVL) to treat hardened plaque in the neck arteries that supply blood to the brain. It is for people who need a stent but whose previous balloon treatment did not work well.
