Who can take part
- You have a severe narrowing (70% or more) or complete blockage in the internal carotid artery on the side of the brain that's affected.
- You also have severe narrowing or blockage in the carotid artery on the opposite side.
- You have not had a stent placed in a head or neck blood vessel in the last 3 months.
- You do not have other brain blood vessel conditions like a large aneurysm or malformation.
- You have not had a stroke within the past 7 days.
- You can have an MRI scan (no metal implants or devices that prevent it).
