Who can take part

  • You have at least one of these heart conditions on an echo: enlarged left atrium (LAE), thickened heart muscle (LVH), or a stiff heart muscle (E/e' > 14).
  • You have moderate or severe diastolic dysfunction (grade II or III).
  • You have heart valve disease (VHD).
  • You have heart failure with a weak pumping heart (LVEF < 40%) or heart failure with preserved pumping heart (LVEF ≥ 40%) plus symptoms and a high NT-proBNP level.
  • You have never been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter.
  • You do not have congenital heart disease, recent heart attack (within 3 months), uncontrolled overactive thyroid, end-stage kidney disease, unstable blood pressure, or a life expectancy less than 1 year.
