Lung fluid study for sepsis-related breathing problems

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with sepsis or septic shock.
  • You need a breathing tube and machine (mechanical ventilation) within 72 hours of your sepsis diagnosis.
  • You are not currently pregnant.
  • You have not had a lung transplant, and you can safely have a bronchoscopy (a tube passed into your lungs for sampling).
  • You (or your legal representative) can provide informed consent.
